So here we are, flying our rocket straight through this historic moment where Web3 finally (re)awakens to the real world. The decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) sector is all the craze in Web3. Real-world assets are finally drawing more eyes than monkey jpegs. And the best thing is, it’s all happening as the winter’s cold grasp on the market is seemingly beginning to thaw, bit by bit.
But just as Neo’s first encounter with the world beyond the Matrix wasn’t exactly joyful, Web3’s real-world adventure is not without its frictions. All too often, as DePIN builders gear up to make an impact, they find themselves facing a certain expertise gap. As part of the peaqosystem, Techtics Engineering will help the DePINs opting to work with it to polish their hardware expertise and fine-tune their hardware to their project’s needs. What exactly does that mean?
Well, let’s say we have a hypothetical DePIN for collecting weather data. As the team behind it lacks expertise to build a custom device, it just grabs whatever is available on the market and ready to go — a wonder-machine outfitted with a dozen sensors for data that the DePIN doesn’t even collect, and with a price tag that only the richest DePIN enthusiasts can afford.
Had this DePIN opted to work with Techtics, the manufacturer would have developed a custom weather station, with all of its features and stats, from the array of on-board sensors to energy needs, fine-tuned to the needs of this specific DePIN and branded with its own logo. By shedding all the stuff the DePIN doesn’t need, the device is also way easier on the wallet, which means a lower barrier to entry for the community and, by extension, more scalability for the DePIN.
Decentralized physical infrastructure networks that don’t need custom hardware, such as those leveraging smartphones, will also be able to leverage Techtics’ expertise through consultations and handy explainers. The company will work to assist up-and-coming DePINs navigate the hardware landscape, leaving them with more bandwidth to polish other components of their projects, from smart contracts to economic models.
