Silencio, a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) comprising more than 35,000 smartphones working as noise pollution sensors, taps peaq as its layer-1 blockchain. This integration will help combat noise pollution with Web3 citizen science.

Noise pollution causes health problems, but researchers often lack precise live data. Silencio is leveraging peaq to give people a way to gather vital analytics to help researchers and decision-makers combat noise pollution. The data is also of a great value to urban planners, real estate companies, entertainment venues, and many other players, which enables the community to monetize it.

By using the app, which is already live both on Google Play and on Apple App Store, anyone can join the fight against noise pollution by collecting data with their smartphone. Users that connect their devices to the DePIN will earn $NOISE tokens.

With Silencio’s app—available on both iOS and Android—anyone can join the movement against noise pollution by collecting live local noise data with just a smartphone. In turn, users that share their gathered data will earn $NOISE tokens.

As part of the app’s initial integration, Silencio will tap self-sovereign peaq IDs and store the hash for the user-collected data on peaq for authentication. Down the road, Silencio will use the peaq mainnet to unlock additional rewards for the community by providing extra $PEAQ tokens.
